  1. 2 Samuel 11:1-27 David; A Man Caught in Sin

  2. David got passive • About his work • About his eyes • About his relationships • About his relationship with God • The rockslide into sin Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:15

  3. Sin is deceptive • Sin numbs you • Sin entices you Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:13-15

  4. Sin is deceptive • Sin numbs you • Sin entices you For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; Proverbs 5:3 have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen. I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love. Proverbs 7:16-18

  5. Sin is deceptive • Sin numbs you • Sin entices you • Sin enslaves you Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 6:16

  6. Sin is deceptive • Sin numbs you • Sin entices you • Sin enslaves you For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 2 Peter 2:20 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1

  7. Sin is deceptive • Sin numbs you • Sin entices you • Sin enslaves you Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.“ Genesis 4:7

  8. Sin has a terrible cost

  9. Rewards Satisfaction $ Pleasure! Fulfillment Consequences Happiness

  10. Consequences “Rewards”

  11. Sin has a terrible cost • Uriah was dead • Bathsheba lost her husband • She was pregnant • The baby died • David’s family was impacted • The nation was divided • David’s health was affected When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Psalms 32:3-4

  12. Sin has a terrible cost • Uriah was dead • Bathsheba lost her husband • She was pregnant • The baby died • David’s family was impacted • The nation was divided • David’s health was affected With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life. Proverbs 7:21-23
