  2. Did you know a standard glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate, and a pint of lager has about the same calorie count as a packet of crisps? The average wine drinker in England takes in around 2,000kcal from alcohol every month. Drinking five pints of lager a week adds up to 44,200kcal over a year, equivalent to eating 221 doughnuts. Many drinkers add to their calorie count by having snacks, such as crisps, nuts or pork scratching, to accompany their drink. A heavy drinking session is often followed by an unhealthy breakfast to help cope with a hangover, which again helps to pile on the pounds. Having too much alcohol can be very bad for your body and health. Drinking a lot of it regularly could change your behaviour which could make those around you in danger. Alcohol

  3. Drugs can be very harmful and bad for your health. Drugs can sometimes be good but only if you have them properly and don't abuse them. Not all drugs are addictive, but some drug users do develop a dependence. People who are dealing with addiction usually: • Feel the need for the drug regularly.  • Have a constant supply of it. • Have failed to stop using. • Will do things they normally wouldn't do (such as stealing or committing other types of crime). • Sometimes people who have a problem don’t think they have or refuse to believe that they are addicted. So if you think your friend or family member has a problem and you want to help them, think about how you're going to approach it and what you’re going to say.  It could be a sensitive subject for them and you don’t what to looking like you’re nagging them. They may not listen to you at first but don’t let this put you off.  The best thing that you can do is to be there for them, to support and encourage them to change. 5. Smoking If you're a smoker, stopping smoking is the single most important step you can take to protect the health of your heart.  Smokers are almost twice as likely to have a heart attack compared with people who have never smoked. Stopping smoking has huge benefits and it’s never too late to give up. Many people don't realise that their GP can help them quit smoking. But your doctor can do a lot, such as enrolling you in a 'stop smoking' clinic and prescribing nicotine replacements such as patches and gum, or stop smoking medication such as Champixto help you reduce smoking so you stop quicker. Smoking can reduce your life plan and system because it can damage your lungs and heart causing you to have a heart attack which will damage your body making it less likely to live longer.
