  2. Introduction • 1200+ °F pipe coming out of Annealing Oven present hazard to handlers • Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. has challenged us to come up with a table to show how long it would take and how much water would be needed to cool the pipe to 650 °F

  11. Conclusion & Recommendations • The maximum amount of water needed and the time the pipe must be exposed is: 27 gallons per minute for 3 min. 20 sec. • When running smaller pipe, operator may choose to speed up conveyor belt or decrease water flow
