  2. 2 of 2 Impact of ribavirin and corticosteroids on mortality in patients infected with Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus • Multivariable regression analysis (adjusted for gender, age, days from onset of symptoms, ribavirin and steroid use): • Effect of ribavirin and corticosteroids on mortality (χ2 test adjusted for severity scoring index): • Ribavirin: Significant decrease of mortality in moderately severe patients • Steroids: Significant decrease of mortality in severe patients Ribavirin may decrease mortality in moderately ill patients with CCHF, while steroids may be especially beneficial for severe patients (with severity defined by a revised severity scoring index) Dokuzoguz B.
