TO VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT IN HUDSON COUNTY • You must be a registered voter • You must apply for an application • Do not submit more than one application for the same election • After filling out your application please mail or submit in person to the Hudson County Clerks Office – Elections Division - 583 Newark Ave. Jersey City, NJ Next

There are a number of ways to obtain an absentee ballot application • You can download an application at www.hudsoncountyclerk.org click on Elections and follow the forms link. • Pick up an application at the Hudson County Clerks Office- Elections Division – 1st Floor, 583 Newark Avenue- Jersey City, NJ • Or call the Hudson County Clerks Office- Elections Division at 201-795-5932 and have one mailed to you Next

HOW TO FILL OUT ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION • In the top section print or type your name and complete home address in Hudson County (no PO Box is permitted on this line) • Date of birth and telephone number are optional but is recommended if we have to contact you • Fill in city and zip code Next

  7. ABSENTEE VOTER OPTIONS CHECK ANY OF THE FOLLOWING THAT APPLY TO YOU: Option A: If you are permanently and totally disabled. By choosing this option you will receive a ballot for all elections to be held during the remainder of the calendar year. Option B. By choosing this option you will automatically be sent an application for all general elections. If you choose to be removed from either option it must be in writing to the County Clerks Office – Elections Division – 583 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, N.J. 07306 Next

  8. MAILING ADDRESS • If you choose to have your ballot sent to a different address than where you live, you should write that in this section • When signing the application REMEMBER to sign your name as it appears in the poll book Next

  9. ASSISTANCE WITH ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION • If you are assisted in filling out the application the person assisting you must fill out this section - this person is referred to as an “assistor” Next

VOTER USING AUTHORIZED MESSENGER • Only if you are sick or confined you may apply for an Absentee Ballot application by authorized messenger. • When choosing this option you are arranging for your messenger to deliver the application to the County Clerks Office and authorizes the Clerk to turn over your absentee ballot to the Messenger instead of sending it to you via mail. • An authorized messenger mustbe a registered voter of Hudson County or a family member. • This process starts 7 days before the election. REASONS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION REJECTIONS • Received too late for processing • Illegible handwriting • Signature verification (signature does not match polling book) • Address doesn’t match address in system. If you moved make sure to update your voter registration form with your new address.
