  1. AQA GCSE Science GCSE Science is changing. New specifications have been introduced for first teaching from September 2006.

  2. AQA GCSE Science The new specifications reflect the need for students who do not continue beyond GCSE to get a practical grounding in the application of Science, and the need for students who will take Science further to gain the knowledge to do so.

  3. AQA GCSE Science How will it work?   Everyone will take the CORE GCSE Science*.This counts as one GCSE and is compulsory. *except for those who take all three separate sciences or who take Applied Double Award

  4. AQA GCSE Science Around 80% of students are expected to do more than this. A number of options become available.   Students can take CORE + ADDITIONAL = two GCSEs Or CORE + ADDITIONAL APPLIED = two GCSEs

  5. AQA GCSE Science Students who wish to study SEPARATE SCIENCES must ensure that they cover the CORE GCSE. They can do this either by taking all three sciences for three GCSEs – Biology, Chemistry and Physics – or by taking the CORE GCSE plus one separate science of their choice.

  6. AQA GCSE Science The final option is that one Double Award option is still available: Applied Double Award = two GCSEs
