  2. Why is EDGE important? EDGE is a better way of providing training which allows the participants to practice and gain self-confidence through hands-on training experiences. Essentially, it teaches you how to train other Scouts and Scouters. As of January 1st, 2010, EDGE is now required for all scouts working toward their Tenderfoot and Life ranks. This ranges from teaching a square knot as a Tenderfoot to teaching first aid, cooking, or camping as a Star Scout. 2

  3. EDGE We are going to perform a skit which will show EDGE in action. We need the patrol leader from each patrol to come up and help us out. Please watch this demonstration of EDGE in motion. 3

  4. EDGE An event in which explorers utilize a piece of paper which has been carefully broken down into grids with images of landforms and a round object which holds a needle used to find ones bearing using the earth’s irresistible field with an attached dial to allow one to traverse over these landforms in order to discern a series of positions which one desires to pause or use to carry on their voyage to the definitive ending location. 4
