Invent a New Technology • groups of 2-3 or you may work by yourself • Today, each person is going to view the websites on Ms. Jani’s wiki-page and come up with at least 1 idea for a new technology by the end of class. • Remember, today, you are working by yourself!
Brainstorm… • What is the issue you are concerned about? • What is your new technology innovation? • What does it do and how does it work? • Who will benefit from this new technology? • How will they benefit? • What things will you need to make this a reality? • Who will you need to help you? • Do you think your idea can ever be realized? • Why or why not?
6x6 PowerPoint Rule • The 6x6 rule states that on each slide there should be no more than 6 words per line and no more than 6 bullets per slide. • Anything over 6 words in one outline point would be considered writing out your presentation as opposed to just referencing a specific point. Going back to the research paper analogy, you wouldn't write your thesis and arguments in your outline points. • For the 6 bullet points per slide rule, any slide containing more than 6 bullet points would simply appear cluttered and be more of a distraction for the audience. • Another pro for the 6x6 rule is that, by limiting you to only 6 words per bullet point, it prevents you from typing out your entire presentation on the slideshow.

GOAL: Come up with an innovative technological invention that combines at least 1 item from each person’s list. • You have several minutes to brainstorm and write down your ideas. • Share ideas with the whole class. • Discuss how these inventions are innovative and how they can help the world—improve something in modern day society. • by the end of the week the students are going to be coming up with a unique new technological invention that will improve a current societal issue.
