You Have A Website?!? How to create a class website that is useful and user-friendly for you, students, parents, and other educators Presented by Sarah Falkoff CHS PD Day – February, 2013
Getting Started-Site Manager • Log onto the CHS School Website at the top using your username and password. • Click “Site Manager” from the top of screen. • A new window will open up, this is the site manager • Create pages • Organize your pages on your site.
Making a new page • On the site manager, click on the green “New Page” button
Making a new page cont. Choose Flex Editor Name the Page *From here, you can choose to create a blog, or other type of page
Making a new page cont. Click on your new page from Site Manager Add content and Save!!! ***If you want the students to see what you are doing/post your site, click the “activate on my page” button. If unchecked, no one will be able to see it.
Inserting a link (weblink, email…) Click on the chain link Click on web address and type or paste it in **To add an email link, just click email address and enter the email. ***To add a link to another page, click your site and find the page.
Insert a file (.doc, .pdf, etc.) Click the paper clip Select your File Click “Browse” and select the file from your computer, then click “Choose.” Then name the file and click Insert.
Insert an Image (.jpeg, ,gif, .png) Click the tree photo Browse for image and select size
Name the image and “Insert Image” and SAVE!!! Insert an Image (.jpeg, ,gif, .png)
Hierarchy (Let’s work on the Sidebar!) • Click tools tab from site manager • Click Classic Hierarchy Navigation • Click New Link • Make sure that the little check box “ACTIVATE ON MY SECTION” below “NEW LINK” box is CHECKED!!!!! • Also, make sure that you activated the check box on the page you want people to see.
Choose the proper web address Name it and choose parent link if you want, and insert Heirarchy (The Sidebar) cont.
