  2. INTRODUCTION • “Vision” is a clear mental picture of what the future could be like. • Hand out seeds • Ask participants to describe the steps of harvest cycle.

  3. Parable of the Harvest • Break up the ground • Sow the seed • Nurture the growth • Bring in the harvest • Gather new seed to sow • Expand to new fields • Pray • Evangelize • Make Disciples • Gather Together • Develop Leaders • Multiply Churches

  4. Read Mark 4:3-9 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times.” Then Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

  7. VISION “If you want to plant something that lasts for a season, plant a flower. If you want to plant something that lasts a lifetime, plant a tree. If you want to plant something that will last for eternity, plant a church.” - David Hesselgrave

  8. VISION “Vision” is the difference between the way things are and the way things should or could be. Vision looks at empty fields and sees the potential harvest!

  13. First Century Models The Acts Progression: Acts 2:47 – Believers added. Acts 5:14 – Believers multiplied. Acts 6:1 – Disciples multiplied. Acts 6:7 – Disciples multiplied greatly. Acts 9:31 – Churches multiplying. Acts 19:10 – A Church Planting Movement?

  14. Paul’s Example • The existing church prayed. • They evangelized lost people. • They discipled new believers. • They gathered new believers into churches. • They appointed and equipped leaders. • Those churches then reproduced new churches.
