How do we demonstrate that Jesus is Our Only Lord? • By regarding Jesus as sole owner of the church. • The church does not belong to some superstar world church leader, a pope, a church counsel or committee, or denominational government. • The church is not my church or your church, it is Christ’s church!

  18. Hebrews 3:6 (NKJV) but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. - cf. Acts 20:28

  19. Competition, jealousy, and greed will disappear when we confess Jesus as Lord– the sole owner of the church!

  20. As humble servants and laborers, let us recognize that the church is “God’s building” and only He can make it grow (1 Cor. 3:5-9).

  21. How do we demonstrate that Jesus is Our Only Lord? • By regarding Jesus as sole owner of the church. • By honoring Jesus as the One who has the preeminence.

  22. Colossians 1:18 (NKJV) And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. - cf. 1 Peter 4:11

  23. We need to take care that no one (e.g. preacher, pastor, influential member, etc.) is given first place in the church other than Jesus. (e.g. 3 John 9-10).

  24. Jesus is the only Lord in the church; the “Chief Shepherd” of who all other shepherds (elders) are subject to (1 Peter 5:1-4).

  25. Revelation 5:12 (NKJV) …"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!"

  26. How do we demonstrate that Jesus is Our Only Lord? • By regarding Jesus as sole owner of the church. • By honoring Jesus as the One who has the preeminence. • By doing everything “in the name of the Lord.”

  27. Often people pay “lip service” to Jesus - confessing Him as Lord, yet rejecting Him by following the ways of this world (Col. 2:8).

  28. Jesus is our only Lord when we are committed to doing everything according to the authority of His word as given in the Scriptures.

  29. Colossians 3:17 (NKJV) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

  30. The Christian who wants to please his/her Master will see to it that every part of his/her life is in harmony with His will (Eph. 5:15-17).

  31. No one can serve two Lords or Masters (Mat. 6:24). Jesus is truly our one and only Lord when we do what He says (Luke 6:46).

  32. How do we demonstrate that Jesus is Our Only Lord? • By regarding Jesus as sole owner of the church. • By honoring Jesus as the One who has the preeminence. • By doing everything “in the name of the Lord.” • By being prepared for the Judgment Day everyday.

  33. Christians are servants of Christ who are continually watching and waiting for their Master’s return (Luke 12:35-40).

  34. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NKJV) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

How do we demonstrate that Jesus is Our Only Lord? • By regarding Jesus as sole owner of the church. • By honoring Jesus as the One who has the preeminence. • By doing everything “in the name of the Lord.” • By being prepared for the Judgment Day everyday. • By putting our commitment to Jesus above everyone else.

  36. Matthew 10:37 (NKJV) He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

  37. Acts 5:27-28 (NKJV) 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood on us!”…

  38. Acts 5:29 (NKJV) 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.

  39. For the Christian, There is only“one Lord” (Eph. 4:5)!
