Join Mrs. Harlan's Chemistry class at Clintondale High School, enhanced by a flipped classroom approach. In this innovative model, students watch lectures at home via YouTube and complete traditional homework during class. This allows for personalized learning, enabling students to control their pace and engage directly with their teacher in practice sessions and labs. Absent students can catch up without missing vital information. Stay connected through my website or email for updates and resources. Let's make chemistry exciting and accessible!

Welcome!!! Open House 2013 Chemistry Mrs. Harlan
What is a flipped class? • Lectures are done outside of class (YouTube) • Traditional homework is done mostly in class • Clintondale HS in Detroit http://flippedhighschool.com/
Why a flipped class? • Student controls pace of lecture • Students do practice in the presence of their teacher • Absent students don’t miss out on lecture • Enables us to do more labs • Prepares students for college
How does it work? • Students watch lecture video and take notes, pausing video when needed • While watching video, students jot down questions to ask in class next day • First thing next class day, students take a quick video quiz that is NOT comprehension based • After quiz, students ask questions, teacher clarifies • After clarification, students work on practice questions or do a lab
Your Turn • Ask whatever questions you have.
