I’m honored to accept the baton from Russ and grateful for his leadership and support, along with Brian, Harald, and Fred. The Internet and emerging technologies shape our world, and I’m excited to collaborate with all of you on these vital advancements. While the IETF has evolved, ensuring timely and relevant standards remains a challenge. We need diverse perspectives to drive innovation.   2. I’m Excited! • Thankful for Russ, Brian, Harald, Fred, … Nomcom, …, Ericsson, … IESG, IAB, … • I’m excited because we all can work on something that is so vital to the world – the Internet and new technologies that have a bright future • And because I can work with you

Moment of Reflection • The IETF has changed, but as changes happen on long timescales, it may be hard to see them • Adminrest, the new datatracker, professional support organization, tools, IT systems, better transparency, IETF Trust, new participants, review teams, … • Much better environment today

  4. Some Challenges, Too • Keep delivering relevant standards, timely • Evolving the participant base • Long BOF-to-RFC delay • Process that is heavier at the end • Communication and IETF’s role in the world • …
