  1. Regional Meeting • Who we are as an organization • What FSIPP is doing for you as a member and for all interventional pain physicians • Current legislative agenda • Goals for this gathering

  2. About FSIPP Largest Pain Society in the State • 230 Physician Members 91% are board certified in their primary specialty 89% of those are board certified in Pain Medicine With the majority holding multiple Pain Medicine board certifications

  3. About FSIPP • 84% of our society are Anesthesia trained • 14% are trained in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation • 80% devote 100% of their time to the practice of pain management

  4. About FSIPP • 93% of our membership have been practicing over 10 years • 34% have been practicing over 20 years

  5. About FSIPP • 84% of our membership practice Multidisciplinary Pain Management 14 % Interventional procedures only 2% medical management only

  6. We are the Voice of Pain Medicine in Florida • Employ a full time lobbyist • Maintain relationships with the FMA, FSA, and FPMR and other societies to further our specialty.

  7. FSIPP has representation on the CAC committee and can influence changes to codes to insure patient access to care and coverage in the Medicare development of Local Coverage Determinations. • We keep all members informed of changes in billing, coding and laws as it pertains to interventional pain.

  8. FSIPP represents our membership on issues such as Medical Marijuana, Pill Mills, and Scope of Practice issues. • We are aggressively working with our lobbyist to curb the state’s attempt to prevent appropriate access to opioid pain medications.

  9. We have worked closely with our lobbyist on the upcoming election and have supported politicians through the FSIPP PAC • $10,000 to the FMA • $23,600.00 in donations to politicians in 2017 • $25,000.00 sent in a contribution to the parent organization (ASIPP) • FSIPP Educational Foundation has our 501c3 status and will be conducting educational outreach in 2018

FSIPP is involved in with FMA, the DOH and the BOM regarding Level I, II, and III Office Surgery rules for in office procedures with sedation. • Fighting to maintain appropriate access to scheduled medicines for our patients (via meetings with FMA, DEA, other state societies, pharmacies, the Retail Associations, and through the press)

  11. But what have you done for me lately? • FSIPP met with the Governor’s Health and Human Services director to curb current legislation limiting opioids to a 3 day supply for acute pain. • Ensuring access to opioids for our patients • FSIPP participated in Florida’s Opioid Summit • FMA involvement • Teleconference • Continue to meet with local legislators

  12. But what have you done for me lately? • FSIPP has been heard in both the Florida House and Senate regarding the following issues: • Ensuring that Florida’s PDMP is accessed by all prescribers, as our members do daily • Eliminated onerous restrictions on acute pain medication supply by proposing exemption for pain specialists and certain medical conditions

  14. Developed a Level II office surgical manual for our members • Biannual Newsletters – Emphasizing new developments, changes, challenges and clinical pearls. • Eblasts • FSIPP is one of only 2 state societies that provides an 8 hour CME on safe opioid prescribing.

  15. Current Legislative Agenda • Interventional Pain Medicine is the Practice of Medicine • Limit Mid Level practitioners ability to prescribe controlled substances • Require all Pharmacies to make public their policies for dispensing controlled substances
