  5. Big Idea The birth of John the Baptist signifies the presence of God, and the commencement of God’s promise keeping redemption through Jesus Christ.

  6. 2 Peter 1:21 …no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

  7. Power

  8. 2 Samuel 7:12 …I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

  9. 2 Samuel 7:16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’

  10. Luke 1:32-33 will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.

  19. Mark 1:4 John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

  22. Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.

  23. John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
