  1. QOD: Electricity and Energy Think, Pair, Share… • Where does the electricity used to power this LCD projector in this room come from? • Brainstorm a list of ways that we can get electricity into our homes and classrooms. • What is the original source of electricity?

  3. Plan of the Day • Watch movie • Simply Science: Harnessing Energy • Form learning groups to further analyze each way we can harness and transfer energy into our homes. • Create a 2 minute presentation to help the class understand how energy can be harnessed in different ways.

  4. Learning Group Tasks • Research one way we can harness the sun’s energy from the video. • Plan/design a rough draft flow-chart to present a proposal to the class showing how energy gets from the SUN --> KINARD as electric energy. • Get your plan approved by Master Architect Bergmann before moving on… • Create a final poster that is of professional quality to present to the class that diagrams your energy source. • The flow chart must include detailed pictures, arrows, and describing words to connecting the diagram. • Add all essential facts to your poster to that help describe your energy type (see 1-9 questions and folders) • Present your posterto the class.

  5. Wrap-Up: Group Discussion • Which method of harnessing energy and getting it into our home is the fastest and most direct path? • Which method is the most powerful? • Which method would be the cheapest? • Which method is the most practical? • Is there a better way to do it?
