  1. Cohort meeting 1/31/2013 February Fun Facts Valentine candy “conversation hearts” have a shelf life of five years Every Valentine's Day, the Italian city of Verona, where Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet lived, receives about 1,000 letters addressed to Juliet Americans spend around $277 million on Valentine cards every year, second only to Christmas The oldest surviving love poem till date is written in a clay tablet from the times of the Sumerians, inventors of writing, around 3500 B.C.

  2. It’s polling time! How are things going for you lately? • Life is good! I am happy!! • I have a few stressful days here and there, but things are going well overall. • I need a vacation!

  3. It’s braggin’ & kudos time • Take one minute and write on the board at least 1 kudo for someone on our team, and 1 kudo for yourself (can be personal or professional!). Ready…GO!

  4. TEaming • What’s worked for youOR what do you hope to accomplish by teaming? You need a buddy to lean on with this job! It WILL help!

  5. Let’s talk mini-bites… We are going to have a Team Colbert Share Fair every first Wednesday of the month at 11am.  This is a time for us to share best practices, and see what other rockstars are doing in their classrooms. • Sharing knowledge • Showcase our team • Above target on evaluation (whoop whoop) Why should you present? Our first share fair will be next Wednesday, 2/6, on Building Relationships and Closing the Deal. We hope to see you there!

  6. Help me, help you! • Please make notes in your CA VSA comments. This helps me when I’m covering, helping, and also helps YOU when NAC’ing. • Make notes in the Active view, too! Each time you make a NW call, write the date in the comment section. This will save you time digging through their contact log to gather the dates when they need to be withdrawn. • Be sure to update VSA with accurate student/parent contact info. • When you are planning your vacations, remember to check our weebly vacation calendar for availabilities, email Michelle to obtain approval, and then let me know when it’s approved so I can add it to the calendar. • The week before your scheduled vacation, please remember to set your loading to zero, make sure your class is in good order, and email me notes (special circumstances, exam passwords, students you want withdrawn, etc).

  7. What’s on the agenda for February? • By Friday (Feb 1), please send me a list of 5 students you would like to see (realistically) finished by the end of February. During the entire month, I will take on the role of the encourager to get those kids across the finish line!  • Use the “Cohort Task” google doc to select 2 tasks from the list provided that you would like me to take off your plate during the week. Please email me your task requests before Monday. • I would also like to offer a mail merge icard rotation. On the week you are scheduled, I will run notification center in Educator, and set up your icard mail merge form to be sent to your parents and students. I set up the document, email it to you, and you send it through outlook. Cha ching monthly calls! (Please see google doc for schedule)

  8. Ipp (individual pace plan) With an IPP, you can plug in the target completion date, copy and paste the student’s gradebook, and voila! An individual completion plan will appear for the student.  • IPP what? Why would you want to use an IPP? It’s easy. You can log it in VSA while you’re doing the welcome call, and always refer the student back to their plan. If a student falls behind, it’s a quick way for them (and you) to see what they have left and when it needs to be completed. If you are setting up a Student Success Plan, this is a quick and easy way to set clear and specific deadlines. *Do you have any students you’re encouraging to finish before Valentine’s Day? Create an IPP for them! Let’s see it in action! http://teamenglish3.weebly.com/teacher-tools.html

  9. Thank you for coming! • I hope to see you next Wednesday for the presentation on “Building Relationships and Closing the Deal” – held by myself, Lisa, and Mary.  • Enjoy the rest of your week! Our pod rocks!!!
