Lincoln and his telegraph office • Lincoln had a telegraph office installed across the street from the White House • He had a constant stream of updates coming in from the frontlines • He made several trips a day • He also sent orders to his generals • He was the was the first Commander-in-Chief to micro-manage a war

  4. Welcome Lincoln’s Press Room! • The President tries to keep up on what is happening. • As his new press aides, you are subscribed to newspapers all over the nation. • Lincoln doesn’t have much patients for the news though…

  5. Your assignment • As the President’s new press aides, your assignment is read through the latest dispatch of newspapers and report to the President only what he needs to know!
