Understanding Newton's Laws and Elemental Properties: Jesterium and Astatine Overview

In this session, we will explore Newton's Laws, focusing on the relationship between mass and speed. A thought-provoking question will be addressed: What happens to the speed of a car that has double the mass? The answer lies in the principles of motion, where the speed is halved. Additionally, we will discuss two interesting elements: Jesterium, known for its hallucinogenic properties and use in laughing gas, and Astatine, a rare element with a half-life of only 8.3 hours. Join us for a comprehensive review and preparation for the upcoming test!

  1. Warm up 04-01-14 • Question: What happened to the speed of the car that was double the mass? • Answer: • its speed was half. • Goal: I will review Newton’s Laws.

  2. Element of the day • 85 - Jesterium– Jk • Jesterium is known to cause hallucinations, and is commonly used in laughing gas. • Jesterium has a half-life of 4 days, 1 hour, and 14 minutes. • Elemental Jesterium has a subtle flavor, similar to that of your elbow.

  3. Element of the day • 85 - Astatine – At • The half-life of astatine is 8.3 hours, and it forms from the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium. • Because of this, at any given time, there is only about an ounce of it on Earth at a time.

  4. Warm up • Review Lab 6B • Video • Review • Tonight’s HW • 2 liter bottle • Pg 35-39 • Ch 5 & 6 Test Friday! Agenda / HW
