Warm-Up 01-07-14. Everyday as part of your warm-up first thing you will do is COPY THE AGENDA FOR THE DAY AND ANY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS YOU SEE! For today, that is all for your warm-up. Second Semester Changes. Percentage vs. Points.

  1. Warm-Up 01-07-14 • Everyday as part of your warm-up first thing you will do is COPY THE AGENDA FOR THE DAY AND ANY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS YOU SEE! • For today, that is all for your warm-up

  2. Second Semester Changes

  3. Percentage vs. Points • Grades will no longer be based on points, but rather percentages • What does that mean for grades? • Assignments will have a greater impact- certain assignments will have more weight than others

  4. Discussion Boards • On webpage- click on class’s page • Weekly- will have Monday through Sunday to participate • Short article or reading • Answer question(s) posted about reading • Comment on other student’s postings • After school on Tuesdays and Thursdays laptops in classroom will be available if no access at home

  5. Timed Reading • Every Friday- first thing to complete when arrive to class • Meant to improve reading comprehension and reading speed • Quiz Grade

  6. Difficulty of Class • Level of difficulty will increase • Do work, study and what is asked of you- no reason you should not do well • High school students- requires a higher level of thinking • College bound?

  7. Missing Assignments • Every Friday- at the end of class- check missing assignment board • Have till the following Monday (have the whole weekend) to complete assignments and turn for partial credit • IF NOT TURNED IN ON THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL DAY THEN THE ZERO WILL REMAIN! • Do not say no opportunity was ever given to you to help you

Bathroom Passes • 5 bathroom passes each quarter- each pass is 1% extra credit to be applied to ANY assignment of your choice • Pass is your hall pass should you be stopped in the hallway • Sign out on the bathroom log clipboard- found to the left of the door- must be filled out completely and correctly or you will forfeit all future passes! • Use wisely!

  9. Hall Passes • Hall passes- you will be written a pass only should you be called to another location or if you have a valid reason- NOT BECAUSE YOU FORGOT SOMETHING- YOU ARE NOT TO DISRUPT OTHER CLASSES! • After you receive your pass, sign out on the hall pass clipboard- found to the left of the door- must be filled out completely and correctly or you will forfeit all future passes!

  10. Paper Heading • Work will not be accepted in the second semester unless it is headed the correct way- see proper heading poster on wall • Work must also be on clean and neat lined paper

  11. Reward System • Each class is competing against one another • When class receives a “point” for good behavior, participation, overall passing test performance, etc., the class will receive a star • When a class losses a point for unrewarding reasons, the class will lose a star • At the end of the quarter, the class with the most “points” will receive cupcakes and milk/soda- unless an early class then the class will receive doughnuts and milk/juice • KEEP IN MIND THAT ONE PERSON CAN CAUSE THE WHOLE CLASS TO LOSE POINTS, AS WELL AS GAIN!
