Strategic Issues Drawing from the 2004-10 Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan, 2010-12 CAS, 2009 Transport PER, Philippines transport sector reviews and updates and Bank Transport Strategy Update: • Strengthen the governance and anti-corruption framework in the sector • Enhance regulatory and policy framework for implementing PPP projects • Reduce congestion in Metro Manila and support development of medium cities • Respond to climate change needs • Continue strong collaboration with IFC, AUSAID, JICA, ADB

Updates • New administration is expected by July 2010 • National transport plan being drafted with AUSAID assistance • National Environmentally Sustainable Transport Study being finalized; interest in study on adaptation needs of the country • Country Investment Plan for Clean Technology Fund (CTF) was approved; it includes an urban transport program for developing BRT systems • Post-disaster needs assessment after typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng • Philippine Development Forum (PDF) Working Group on Infrastructure-Transport as venue for dialog between transport agencies and ODA community • Completed urban transport study
