Talk to your school counselor • Go to http://www.hhrs.us • Under Student Resources, click on Naviance-Family Connection and log in • Speak with college representatives at HHRS or visit the campus (MCGDA college fair at Brookdale’s Collins Arena this Sunday, 10/06/13 from 1-4 pm) • Add colleges of interest to your “colleges I’m thinking about” page COLLEGE SEARCH

Register for and take the SATs (www.collegeboard.org), ACTs (www.act.org) and/or SAT Subject tests • Upcoming test dates: • SAT: November 2 (Register by 10/3), December 7 (Register by 11/8) • ACT: October 26 (Late registration by 10/11), December 14 (Register by 11/8) • **Remember to have your test scores sent to colleges directly from College Board and ACT (HHRS will not report your scores to colleges!) NEXT STEPS: • Athletes: Register with the NCAA at eligibilitycenter.org; request transcript through the NCAA site

Complete online and paper applications (via Naviance, commonapp.org and/or college/university websites)—IMPORTANT: For Common App. schools, you MUST match your Common App. and Naviance accounts AND complete the FERPA waiver through Common App http://vimeo.com/73384070 • Make sure all colleges to which you are applying are listed on “colleges I’m applying to ” page on Naviance • Request teacher recommendations (in person first, then on Naviance) • Submit a completed “HHRS Application Processing Request” form for each college to which you are applying • Complete, print and submit your resume and brag sheet to your counselor (copies will be made for you to give to the teachers writing your recommendations) YOU ARE READY TO APPLY!

  9. 5 stamps must be submitted for every non-electronic submission school • Deadlines: • All required materials must be submitted to Guidance 2 weeks before the college’s deadline (although you may bring them earlier) • To have your applications and supplemental materials submitted by Thanksgiving recess, you must bring all required materials to Guidance by November 13, 2013; applications to be sent by the winter break must be submitted to Guidance by December 6, 2013. • When you are ready to submit applications, it is mandatory that you make an appointment with your counselor. Scholarships/Financial Aid: Check Naviance, www.fastweb.com, www.scholarships.com, www.finaid.org for scholarships and other funding opportunities • Watch for winter Financial Aid Workshop: TBA • Apply for a PIN (parents and students) at www.pin.ed.gov • After January 1, 2014 apply for financial aid at fafsa.ed.gov • Complete college/university financial aid forms and/or CSS profile SECOND SEMESTER ACTIVITIES:
