  1. Matthew 6:24 Teaching on laying up treasure, Jesus said ‘You cannot serve God and mammon.’ (NKJV)

  2. Jesus said…..‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)

  3. Who are you serving?

  4. Is it God…..

  5. …….or is it Mammon?

  6. Who is God? ‘…the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’ Revelation 4:8 (ESV)

  7. Who, or what, is Mammon…. A world system describing the accumulation of wealth

  8. ...a world system often characterised as a false god…….

  9. Which taken from the original Syriac/Aramaic language (which Jesus spoke) means…..

  10. ‘that in which one trusts’

  11. So what Jesus was saying was…… We cannot serve God as well as ‘that in which we trust’ (unless the two are one and the same)

  12. So…... ….the question remains – who do we serve; what are we trusting in?

  13. It’s an important question….. …because we can only serve one master. Only one way can be correct!

  14. (Unless you have worked out how to travel in two differing directions at the same time!)

  15. Jesus also said….. (…just in case we didn’t get the message the first time…..)

  16. Matthew 12:30 ‘Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters’ (ESV)

  17. So….. ….in which direction is your life going?

  18. …..are you looking to God?

  19. ….or are you looking elsewhere to place your trust?

  20. Hence our scripture of the year Philippians 3:13-14

  21. ‘Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do:’ Note - just One thing

  22. …forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.’

  23. One goal One prize One God One way

  24. John 14:6 Remember, Jesus said….. ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ (ESV)
