  2. Course Expectations “The BIG Five” 1.) Do your homework each night (homework board, website) 2.) Use your resources (math review, websites, classmates, teacher, parents) 3.) Be a positive contributor to class discussions and activities. 4.) Prepare for tests and quizzes ahead of time 5.) Show good work quality

  3. Important Websites to Reference • www.hotmath.com (password given soon) • Homework helper • http://wjhs7b.pbworks.com • Assignments, notes, review materials

  4. Textbook letter of receipt from parents • Book remains at home until the end of the school year.

  5. Red Folder • You are given 15 participation points at the beginning of each Quarter. • How do you lose points? You will open the folder and mark a point off each time you… - Forget supplies (notebook, folder/binder, pencil, calculator) - Do not completehomework - Tardy to class - Make a poor behavior choice • End of each quarter, score is entered as an assignment grade. • Start over each quarter with 15 new points.

  6. Grading • At WJHS, you earn 2 grades for each class: • PROGRESS (Homework, organization, etc…) On a scale of 1- 3, three being the best • PRODUCT (Tests, quizzes, projects) Letter grade (A, B, C, D, U), no plusses or minuses - In Pre- Algebra, you get 1 retake opportunity for tests and quizzes at the end of each quarter.

  7. Our Routine • Daily Routine (non test days) 1.) Student check EVEN numbered homework problems with group members (next week) 2.) While students are checking, teacher in recording homework completion in grade book. 3.) Students write any EVEN numbered problems that you need help with on the front board 4.) Teacher reviews all problems on board 5.) Move on to next lesson 6.) Practice new lesson and teacher takes questions 7.) Assign homework for the evening 8.) Repeat next day

  8. Help Sessions • Lunch/Recess on TUESDAYS/THURSDAYS with Math Resource Teacher • My classroom THURSDAYS after school from 3- 3:30 pm with Ms. Fessler

  9. Wilmette 39 “Performance Series” Testing • Three times a school year • Online Math test that differs for each student • Monitors your progress in Mathematics • Used to better understand your strengths and weaknesses and is ONE factor in placement into honors level math. • First test is September 9th
