Integrating Strong-Motion Data for Advanced Engineering and Community Collaboration

In this open panel discussion, we explore the integration of different strong-motion data sources, specifically focusing on the exchange of Rapid Raw Strong Motion (RRSM) data through EIDA nodes. We will discuss how to combine classical engineering strong-motion (ESM) data with RRSM, leveraging the collective efforts of a pan-European consortium of strong-motion data providers. Join us to learn about the potential benefits for data providers, including industry funding and opportunities for collaborative projects within the framework of EPOS and ORFEUS.

  1. Open Panel Discussion • Many (strong-motion database) work specific to different project purposes: No sustainability • BB community has already started to collect/exchange Rapid Raw Strong Motion (RRSM) data through EIDA nodes • How can we integrate the classical engineering strong-motion (ESM) data with RRSM: NERA-NA3 efforts • A consortium of strong-motion data providers in Europe and surrounding countries (dynamic SM databank) working under a non-profit establishment? ORFEUS? • A board of international experts under a non profit establishment? • How can EPOS shape this initiative? • Technical continuity – who / where? • Timeframe for other agencies to join the initiative? • Benefits of data providers joining this consortium: funding from industry, future national / international collaborative / individual projects?
