Imperialism. At the end of 8 th grade you learned about how the United States had industrialized. Now that we have built up our country, the U.S is turning its sights outward to expand . Now that we are looking outward instead of inward, what is our foreign policy going to look like?.

  1. Imperialism At the end of 8th grade you learned about how the United States had industrialized. Now that we have built up our country, the U.S is turning its sights outward to expand. Now that we are looking outward instead of inward, what is our foreign policy going to look like?

  2. In this era of national expansion, American influence stretched from sea to shining sea and beyond. For much of the 1800s, Americans focused their attention inward on continental expansion. Late in the century, people began looking outward for new territory to conquer and new markets for American goods. By 1900, the American eagle could spread its wings across a small empire.

  4. What’s the point? All of the reasons listed were reasons why stronger countries were competing with each other for more power and control in the world during the late 1800s. • A: Stop human rights abuse • B: Help your own economy (sell things to new people) • C: Show off your military to the rest of the world • D: Gain resources (oil, coal, iron, etc.) • E: Spread your country’s culture • F: Spread democracy to a country that isn’t democratic
