  2. A virtual K-12 “library” that teachers & students may visit at all hours of the day to find reliable sources of information. Digital videos, art, encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers, scholarly journals, test preparation, online literature, reliable websites State-funded, password protected (see the INFOhio handout or click here to fill out a form and have it emailed to you). What is INFOhio?

  3. Easy Access • From the Finneytown home page (www.finneytown.org). • Go to “Quick Links” on the left and click on “Media Center.” • Click “Online Databases” at the top of the Media Center home page. • Or bookmark this address www.infohio.org and go directly to INFOhio’s site.

  4. From the Online Databases Page on the Media Center website… • If you access INFOhio through the media center website, these are your choices. • The Pageflakes page gives you a good overview of each INFOhio resource.

  5. From the INFOhio Home Page… • If you go directly to INFOhio’s home page, you have basically the same choices…but without the Pageflakes overview.

  6. Once You’ve Chosen a Grade Range… • If you want to do a general search through ALL of the INFOhio resources, enter your search terms in the box. • Or, you can choose individual databases to search, one at a time.

  9. World Book Online If you need help with any of the World Book resources, click the blue “i” button. • World Book Kids: gr. K-5 • World Book Student: gr. 5-9 • World Book Advanced: gr. 8-College • World Book Online Reference: gr. 4-9 (they’re phasing this one out) What’s cool about World Book? Great Articles + Backpack, Timeline Creator and Citation Maker

EBSCOhost If you need help with any of the EBSCOhost resources, click the blue “i” button. • All Database Search: anyone • Professional Search: teachers & administrators • EBSCO Images: anyone • Consumer Health Complete: for Health articles • Searchasaurus: gr. K-3 • Kids Search: gr. 3-5 • EBSCO Animals: anyone • Student Research Center: gr. 6-8 • Student Research Center: gr. 9-12 What’s cool about EBSCOhost? Great articles from magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals.

SchoolRooms • In the left-hand box, choose your grade level (elementary, middle, or high). • Choose your subject and keep working your way down through the choices. • Once you’ve exhausted the middle section, use the search box to find library books, online databases, digital videos, websites, and more! Find “Finneytown Local Schools” in the F’s. What’s cool about SchoolRooms? Search our library collection + databases + hand-selected websites (by teachers & librarians) simultaneously.

  12. NewsBank • Local & national newspapers and magazines as well as in-depth coverage on issues that are being talked about a lot in the news. What’s cool about NewsBank? “Hot Topics” in Current Events & “Special Reports.”

  13. Biography Reference Bank • Biographical articles on over 500,000 people, both alive and dead. What’s cool about Biography Reference Bank? One-stop shopping for biographical articles from multiple sources + pictures + the actual obituary (if the person is dead).

Digital Video Collection • Multiple ways to find videos: “Easy Search,” “Browse List,” or “Newest Titles.” • Printable lists are also available. • Once you find one, click on “View,” or “Download.*” (*only temporarily*) What’s cool about Digital Videos? They’re an alternative to YouTube and they’re not blocked!

Learning Express Library Make sure that students either use their Finneytown username & password OR write it down somewhere! • Unlike other INFOhio resources, students are required to create their own username & password for individualized learning/test taking. What’s cool about Learning Express Library? it’s an alternative to Study Island with tests for Elementary students, MS, HS, college preparation, and computer skills.

  17. EBSCOhost Journal Alerts • Choose EBSCO from Core Collection, then “Professional Search.” • Click “Sign In” and create an account. • Click “Title Lists” and choose a database (Academic Search Premier). • Click “Title Lists” again and enter the name of the journal that you want an alert for.

  18. EBSCOhost Alerts Part 2 • Click on the orange RSS feed button. • You now have 2 choices: • Set up an email alert. OR • Copy & paste the RSS address into an RSS aggregator (if you don’t already have one, get the email alert).
