The Mindanao River Basin stakeholders convened on November 26-27, 2013, for a comprehensive consultation and strategic planning workshop aimed at establishing the MRB Management Council. Attendees engaged in discussions on sustainability, organizational setup, and the Council's vision, mission, goals, and strategies for the next 20 years. This process involved contributions from local government units (LGUs) and existing alliances, focusing on effective operationalization through strategic planning, resource allocation, and collaboration to ensure sustainable management of the river basin.

Workshop 1: Discussion and Agreement on MRB Management Council

Guide Questions Group 2 • How can you make the set-up responsive and functional? • How can we formalize/institutionalize the MRB Management Council? • What will be the composition of the Council? • What are the requirements for a sector to be a member of the Council?
Guide Questions Group 3 • What do you want this Council to be? • What role should the MRB Management Council play in the MRB vis-à-vis LGUs, FAB and Alliances? • What role should the Alliances’ play vis-à-vis the MRB Management Council and among themselves?

Plenary: Key Activities (Setting up the MRB Management Council)
Step 1: Conceptualization • Strategic Planning • Creation of TW for the setting up of MRB Management Council ( • Drafting of MOU and TOR (roles and responsibilities of council members) (January_2014_) • Crafting of manual of Operations of the Council • Secure funding support from RBCO and OCD, other funding source (USAID etc)
TWC (Interim) • 1 per province (SC, SK, NC, Mag, Cot City, Bukidnon) • 1 from RDC each region • 1 rep from existing alliances
Step 2: Consultation with LCEs and RDCs • Phase 1: • Meet member LGUs (LCE, SB, CPDCs/MPDCs, PPDCs, MENRO) • Secure endorsement thru resolution • Phase 2: Presentation to RDC, REDPB for adoption • Secure endorsement thru resolution
Step 3: Establishment of MRB Management Council • Signing of MOU • Securing Commitments (funding and program support) from council members • Organizational meeting • Establishment of the PMO Concerned Agencies: MinDA (AMO and NOW-PMU), RBCO
