  1. Costa Rica 2010 Financial Information As of July 25, 2009

  2. Overview • I would like you to be fully informed about the costs involved with a trip like this. Too often parents and students are presented with just the tour fee, only to be surprised (or shocked) later by the total cost of the trip. I have tried to include everything related to the trip, with the exception of personal items (clothing, luggage, etc.) Knowing all of the financial information up front can help you make the best decisions for your family, your budget, and fundraising plans. • Some fees are subject to change, which is beyond my control. • This presentation includes information and costs paid to Explorica, payment plans, as well as additional expenses you can expect (passports, spending money, etc.).

  3. Explorica Expences These items are paid directly to Explorica: Tour fee Life time membership fee Airport fees, taxes, and airline fuel surcharges Folklore evening Trip insurance (optional but highly recommended) Adult Fee (Persons 23 and older) Adult room supplements

  4. Tour Fee • Round-trip airfare • 8 overnight stays in hotels with private bathrooms • Buffet-style breakfast daily • Lunch and Dinner daily • Full-time services of a professional Tour Director • Guided sightseeing tours and city walks as per itinerary • Visits to select attractions as per itinerary • Canopy Tour • Lake Arenal kayaking tour • Horseback ride • Tour Diary™ • All non-optional gratuities • 24-hour emergency service This fee is subject to periodic increases. Enroll early to lock in the price.

  5. Lifetime Membership Fee The Lifetime MembershipFee is $95 per person for International tours departing from the U.S. and includes: • Waived MembershipFee for life • Access to your personal TourCenter for six months after each tour • Special travel offerings for up to five years after your enrollment date • The MembershipFee is not transferable, non-refundable, and must be paid even if you only plan to travel with Explorica on one tour.

  6. Airport fees, taxes, and airline fuel surcharges • Explorica's Tour Fees do not include airport fees, taxes, and airline fuel surcharges, all of which are subject to change. • These fees and taxes include: • Airport taxes, which are levied by departure, arrival, and connecting airports • Security taxes and fees, introduced in response to September 11th • Immigration taxes • Airport improvement fees • Airline fuel surcharges • Passenger facility charges • Explorica does not implement or collect these charges. They are levied by the airports and transportation agencies that control all flights. We simply collect these fees from our travelers and pass them onto these agencies. • While Explorica does their best to collect all these fees when you first reserve your tour, major currency fluctuations or rising fuel prices can significantly increase these costs. They occasionally must pass these increases onto our travelers.

  7. Folklore Evening • In order to provide flexibility in our itineraries, Explorica offers optional activities for many of our tours. The cost for any activity labeled "optional" is not included in your Tour Fee. • Folklore evening Costa Rica’s culture draws on African, Caribbean, and Spanish roots to create a unique and lively blend. Sit back and surround yourself with this colorful culture during an evening of fine food and fiesta. Brightly costumed locals serve up a typical Costa Rican meal of beans, rice, white cheese, fruit, and a main dish of fish, chicken, or beef, and a performance of traditional music follows. All Members of the RHS tour group will take part in this event.

  8. Trip Insurance • Explorica's travel protection plan covers you for the following events: • A traveler's injury, sickness, or death of an immediate family member •  Theft of passport or visas • Flight cancellations due to strike or bad weather • Loss of luggage and personal effects • Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption due to covered reasons such as a covered sickness, injury or death • Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption due to Terrorist Acts, as defined. • CANCEL FOR ANY REASON BENEFIT • Explorica's Cancel For Any Reason Benefit protects your tour investment should you need to cancel your tour for any reason not currently covered in by our travel protection plan provision, with a minimum cash reimbursement of all 75% of Explorica's non-refundable cancellation fees, provided the cancellation occurs 2 days or more before tour departure.  The Cancel For Any Reason Benefit is only applicable if you purchase Explorica's Travel protection plan within 14 days of enrollment. This insurance is optional, but highly recommended for RHS students.

  9. Adult Fees • Adult Fees • Our programs are primarily developed for students, but adults are welcome to participate.  As our prices are based on student rates, we charge a flat rate adult supplement to those 23 years of age and over.  The Adult Fee for International Tours is $125 per adult. • Double/Twin or Single Room Supplements • All students room together in same-gender triples or quadruples . Adults are automatically placed in twin rooms unless a single is requested.  The double/twin or single room supplement will apply in addition to the adult supplement, and will be charged even if the adult requests a triple room.  Participants under the age of 23 are not permitted to room in singles.  *Double/Twin: $30 per night (8 nights) = $240.00 Single: $60 per night (8 nights) = $480.00

However, prices are very similar to those in the United States. • Explorica suggests that each participant budget $30 to $50 in spending money for each day of the tour for souvenirs, transportation and meals not included in the Tour Fee, and other incidental expenses. We are requiring a minimum of$400 total for our trip. (about $38 per day + $6 per day for tips see below) • Explorica Suggests $4 USD per day (or the equivalent in local currency) for tipping your Tour Director and another $2 USD per day (or the equivalent in local currency) for your bus driver.  • We will collect the tip money before we leave.
