  2. School Hours • YMLA hours are 9:00 am – 4:30 pm • Student need to be in their seat at 9:00 not being dropped off at 9:00

  6. Merit System • Merits – positive behavior • Low: +1 • Med: +2 • High: +3 • Demerits – negative behaviors • Low: -1 • Med: -2 • High: -3

  7. 2013-2014 Dress Code • Appropriate fitting khaki or black slacks or chinos • No Jeans or jeans style pants regardless of material (this includes black and khaki jeans) • No rivets in pants (they look like a snap on the outside of pants) • No Shorts • No Cargo type pants • No Sagging or skinny style pants

  8. 2013-2014 Dress Code • Solid red, white, blue, or black collared polo-style shirt (no patterns or designs) • Solid white, navy, grey or black sweater/sweatshirts (no patterns or designs) • No logo on shirt or pants

  9. 2013-2014 Dress Code • Pants at waist • No sagging • Shirts tucked in at all times • Belts are preferred • Pants cannot be tucked into shoes or cuffed.

  10. 2013-2014 Dress Code • No jackets or hoodies inside the building • No logos or symbols on shirts or sweatshirts.

Dress Code • Appropriate hairstyles and jewelry • No hairstyle resembling mohawks or blowouts • No designs or etching in the hair or eyebrows • No non-natural hair colors • Necklaces must be tucked underneath student’s clothing • Dress shoes: • solid black or brown • Tennis shoes: • solid black, solid white, or a combination of black and white tennis shoes (no accent colors)

  12. 2013-2014 Dress Code • Students must be in possession of a YMLA ID on their person at all times while on campus • All students will be issued their first ID card • If lost, they will have to buy each ID card • Replacement cards cost $2 • Discipline consequences can be issued for not possessing an ID card Young Men’s Leadership Academy 2018 123456 John Smith

Dress Code Continued • Spirit Days - YMLA spirit t-shirt (sold by PTA) • Free Dress Days • earned by reaching leadership goals • Athletics/PE • Spirit t-shirt or white t-shirt, black shorts, tennis shoes • Leadership Outings for the Leadership Elective class will be professional dress or school standardized dress. This will be discussed as part of the Leadership class

  14. Before School • Students may begin to enter the building through the front doors at 8:15am • Students will be directed to the cafeteria where they will be monitored or to their teacher’s room if they have a pass • Students can work on assignments, eat breakfast, or socialize in cafeteria • Once seated, students will remain seated • We expect our young men to act like MEN

  15. Morning Passes • Students must have a pass to go to a teacher’s room each morning • A parent can write the pass • Students without a pass will not be allowed down the hallway

  16. Breakfast • Students who choose to eat breakfast will eat in a designated area • Once finished eating they may join their friends • Breakfast will no longer be served after 8:45

  17. Lunch • Will eat at their teacher’s assigned table • Administration will supervise lunch times • Get all food, drink, snacks, ketchup, napkins, etc the first time through the line • Once seated, students will remain seated • Our young men will clean up after themselves • Will dismiss by table and line up in your teacher’s designated area • Misbehavior will result in isolation lunch

  18. After School • After school it is expected that students leave the building and return home. Unless a student has permission from a teacher, is attending after school tutoring, or is participating in extra or co-curricular activities. • Students will be monitored until 4:45 • Students still on campus after 4:45 will be unmonitored

  19. Hallways • We expect our hallways, as well as any other area at YMLA, to be a safe and orderly environment for everyone • Walk on the right side of the hallway and keep moving • Avoid running, being excessively loud, horseplay, etc • 3 min between classes • ACT LIKE MEN

  20. Lockers and Locks • No lockers will be issued in the building during the 2012-13 school year • Students can carry their backpacks to their classes • Students participating in PE/Athletics will be issued a locker in their dressing room. • Students will have to provide their own lock.

  21. Electronic Devices • Must remain off and put away while on campus during school hours otherwise it will be take up without warning • Confiscated electronic devices, including cell phones, will be returned to the parent/guardian on the first offense. If confiscated more than once, the item will be returned to the parent/guardian at a fee of $15.00 for each offense or will be kept until the last day of the school year. • Teachers may allow students to use their electronic devices for educational purposes. This only applies to that teacher’s classroom on the day he or she gives permission

  22. School Sponsored Events • All GPISD Code of Conduct and School Rules are effective at any school event (on our campus or other’s) • We expect our students to act like MEN and be an example to the community
