Who we have supported • Supported over 250 young people • 91 jobs secured • 54 people moved into training for employment • Over 100 people moved into further education • 37 people have secured SVQ Horticulture • 16 people are currently working towards SVQ Horticulture • 4 Modern Apprentices working towards SVQ 2 Horticulture • 12 people are currently working towards SVQ 1 Food Prep • 30 people are still at school

Aims & Objectives of Transitions “Pupils with Aspergers and communication disorders are probably the biggest group in need of specialised support at transition stage” C McKenna, Cathkin High School “It can be very difficult to manage a suitable and sustainable transition for some pupils, especially those with ASD. We try to involve our Careers Service as much as we can” A Meikle, St Andrews and St Bride “Only 15% of adults with autism in the UK are in full-time paid employment, over 60% of people with ASD want to work but don’t have the support to achieve this”

Aims & Objectives of Transitions • In response to the Scottish Strategy for Autism, SLC aim to provide the right individualised support to those who are preparing for their transition to leave school. • Includes a ‘local’ transition strategy, with a specialist multi agency approach to support the longer term stages of transition. • In line with South Lanarkshire Council’s Supported Employment Framework, support is specifically tailored to those who have ASD.

Developing Partnerships • Established relationships with School principals and CDU/Autism base principals • Working with Skills Development Scotland to ensure comprehensive careers support • Partnership agreements set with local colleges to ensure 1-1 support can be provided in initial stages of college start date • Working with National Autistic Society to pilot a ‘summer school’ transitions project
