  3. Typical Structure • 1. Exposition: ghost provides vengeance motive • 2. Anticipation: detailed planning takes place • 3. Confrontation: avenger versus victim • 4. Delay: avenger hesitates to kill • 5. Completion: revenge is completed. Usually the avenger dies

  4. Hamlet • Hamlet has 3 Revenge Plots • Hamlet swears revenge on Claudius • Laertes swears revenge on Hamlet • Fortinbras swears revenge on King Hamlet
