  2. Summer Focus • Organization and Time Management • Grammar Review and Practice • Paragraph and Sentence Structure • Keys to Success

  3. Organization Tips • Take the time to develop an organizational system BEFORE the school year begins. Be sure it’s one that your child feels comfortable with. • Keep in mind that your child will have the following classes next year: • English • History • Math • Science • Latin • Spanish • Music, Art, Gym (Specials) • Buy folders and notebooks for each class (always a good idea to purchase a Miscellaneous Folder and a Homework Folder also) – St. Philip’s provides a binder, dividers, and loose leaf paper, but this is often not enough. • Purchase a back-up Planner or Organizer – students often misplace the planner that is given to them at the beginning of the year and it will be essential! • Students should always have a ready supply of pens, pencils, index cards, erasers, white out, and highlighters. • Create an “Archive System” at home. In Middle School students have Midterms and Final Exams – keeping track of their unit materials throughout the year will make it easier to study.

  4. Time Management • Block Scheduling • 90 & 45 Minute Blocks • Several teachers • Homework Schedule • Nightly – stay AHEAD of the curve • Specific TIME and PLACE each evening • Study Habits • Develop a study schedule • Adhere to deadlines
