Wolf habitats • The wolf’s population in Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Utah, and Wisconsin are removed from the protection of the Endangered Species Act. • If humans were as varied as do dogs, we would range in height up to 22 feet tall and weigh more than 1,000 pounds. • NGC traces the genetic journey from wolf to dog.

  3. Wolves • Wolfs play as characters in fairy tails. • The wolf is recognized as the ancestor of all dog species. • Wolves eat large meals like moose, caribou, and deer.

  4. Types of wolves • The wolf (or timber wolf) has been in many different lights, from “ Big, Bad Wolf” to Spiritual Being. • Wolves are the largest of all canines . • At 60-90 cm (2-3ft) at shoulders and( 4.5-6.5ft) in length, wolves in weight from 25-60 kg (55-130 lb.)

WOLVES IN THIS TIME • Wolves take viewers back 100,000 years to meet the mothers of all dogs. • Humans have been selectively training them for around 14,000 years to serve us. • Specially-trained dogs from the group, Conservation Canines, have been assisting scientists protecting endangered species since 1997.

  6. Wolves’ senses • With their highly sophisticated sense of smell paired with their insatiable urge to play. • Dogs can track scat (animal droppings) from miles and miles away. • Wolves are not really big, and bad wolves aren’t even harmful to humans.
