Frankfort is located in the Bluegrass region. • Kentucky was originally spelled Kentucke • Bluegrass-named for the use of bluegrass in fields for horses.

  3. Geography • The river that runs through Kentucky is the Kentucky River. • The Bluegrass region covers an area of 8,000 square miles. • The Bluegrass is the 3rd largest region. • The Ohio River borders the North • Low Rolling Hills and Valleys

Economy • Contains the Three Largest Cities: Lexington, Louisville, and Northern Kentucky • Home to about half of the state’s population • Major crops: corn, soybeans, tobacco, and hay • Thoroughbred Industry • Transporting Goods • Natural Resources: Soil ,Minerals ,Service industries, Manufacturing ,Water ,Trees/Lumber ,Coal ,Water transportation
