  2. Norman GibsonGeneral Manager, RAB South Africa Norman’s advertising career started 12 years ago as a media buyer at Penta Communications. Having worked on accounts including Absa and Edgars he took on a position as media planner at The Agency for Advertising and Marketing, where he planned on accounts including SABC and Telkom. He then moved on to FCB Lindsay Smithers (now Draftfcb) and handled the media planning and strategy for Edgars. 8 years ago, Norman was appointed as an Account Manager at RadMark, a regional radio sales house. Norman was instrumental in getting the Non-Traditional Revenue (NTR) department up and running before relocating to RadMark Cape Town as marketing strategist. After a brief period at The MediaShop, Cape Town as media strategist on the Checkers account, Norman was offered the position of Marketing Manager back at RadMark Johannesburg. In November 2008 he was appointed as General Manager of the RAB South Africa and has held this position since January of this year. Norman is unmarried and claims his secret to success is maintaining a healthy lifestyle and an unquenchable passion for radio.

  3. Ryan TillChief Operating Office, Primedia Broadcasting Ryan started his radio career 15 years ago at the SABC. He spent 18 months in the national broadcaster’s radio sales division, Radio Active, as a Strategic Planner. At the time of the privatisation of the regional stations by the SABC Ryan moved over to Primedia, the new owners of 94.7 Highveld Stereo. Ryan spent 18 months in the sales team at Primedia, during which he also he also held a position on air. He then went overseas and worked in the UK for a year, where he took up a position at EMAP Radio in London, working on their trade marketing arm. Ryan returned from the UK, and set up the Marketing Services division servicing the Broadcasting business in Johannesburg. Shortly after this the Online division was created, and Ryan was given the task of heading it up. The division still exists 10 years later, and manages 22 web sites within the Primedia Broadcasting stable. Ryan got more involved in the rest of the radio business, and moved through the positions of Promotions Manager, Group General Manager, and now has the position of Chief Operating Officer. In that time he’s directed most of their digital initiatives, including the creation of their listener loyalty programmes. Ryan chairs the board of the newly formed RAB, having worked on several radio industry projects over the last 6 years. Ryan is married to Lisa, and has two sons, Gabriel and Jonah.
