  1. The Northeast The Midwest: Wisconsin Read on to learn about the regions of the United States as well as a state or area unique to that region. The Northeast Region of the United States is the oldest region. There are eleven states in the Northeast. Six are known as the New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The other states are called the Middle Atlantic States: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. is also a part of the Northeast. As you know I live in the state of Wisconsin – the best of the fifty states; home of the Green Bay Packers and all things wonderful.  Wisconsin is apart of the Midwest Region of the U.S. • Northeast • Southeast • Midwest • Southwest • West New York The Statue of Liberty is a monument built in New York Harbor. The formal name of the statue is "Liberty Enlightening the World." It is a woman who has escaped the chains of tyranny. The Broken chains can be seen lying at her feet. The torch in her right hand symbolizes liberty. The United States is divided into five regions.  These regions are the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and the West. The U.S. is broken up into fifty states. Each state has a capital city which is normally one of the biggest, most exciting cities within the state. There are many farms in Wisconsin and rural small towns, but there are big cities as well including our capital, Madison.

  2. The Southwest The Southeast: Louisiana The southwest is home to the second largest state in the U.S. that being Texas. Texas borders are neighbor to the South, Mexico. The Rio Grand River separates the two countries. Take a look at Louisiana celebrates Mardi Gras which is English translates to “Fat Tuesday”. There are parades, huge carnivals and celebrations for the day before the Lenten Season starts. Texas  Each state also has a state flag. The flag of Texas is pictured above. The colors of the flag; red, white and blue represent bravery, purity and loyalty. In the U.S. each state has a quarter with things that are unique to its state on it. Louisiana’s is pictured to the right. On it there is a pelican, the state bird, as well as a trumpet symbolizing the love of music in Louisiana. The West The west is the home of some of the most beautiful landscape in the country. There are mountains touching the sky and meadows as far as the eye can see. the United States of America References: http://cg043.k12.sd.us/regions%20of%20the%20US%20webquest/northeast_region.htm -map of regions http://www.enchantedlearning.com/history/us/monuments/sol/ -statue of liberty http://www.punjabigraphics.com/pg/mardi-gras/ -mardigraspic & info http://www.johnston.k12.ia.us/schools/lawson/gradelevellinks/50states/louisiana.html - Louisiana State Quarter http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ref/abouttx/flagdes.html - Texas Flag http://www.desktopscenes.com/Scenes%20from%20Yellowstone%20(2003)/slides/Morning%20Glory%20Pool.html- Morning Glory Pic http://downloadsoftwarestore.com/software/keyword/5906 - flag picture http://library.thinkquest.org/4552/- Region Map http://www.myonlinemaps.com/wisconsin.php - map of U.S. http://www.timpahs.com/exhibitions.html -Capital Picture http://www.seedol.com/blog/2011/01/10/green-bay-packers-wins-over-philadelphia-eagles/ -Packer Helmet Yellowstone National Park is located in the state of Wyoming.
