  5. Writing • Teaches writing process • 30 minutes daily • Lesson consists of: Narrative Writing Informational Writing Opinion Writing Grammar

  6. Kindergarten Math Curriculum • Understanding the Relationship between Numbers and Quantity- August- November • Measurement and Data- December/January • Understanding Base Ten and Operations-February/March/April • Geometry (Flat Shapes, Names of Shapes, Position of Shapes)-April/May

  7. Science Units: Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems- 5 senses, Life Cycles, Animal properties, Habitats Forces and Interactions- Motion & Change Weather and Seasons

Social Studies Units: Rules and Responsibilities-Rules at Home & School, American symbols & Leadership Me and My Family- Transportation, Goods & Services, How people adapt to their changing environment, Yesterday Today & Tomorrow, How people live work& play, Family customs Me on the Map- Using pictures and symbols to create maps, Landforms vs. Bodies of water

  11. Lunch and Snack 3-4 entrée choices daily Snack- children should bring daily. We will eat in the classroom. Please make sure it is small and healthy. * Many food allergies, it would be helpful if peanut butter or nuts are not included in snacks.

  12. Clothing Send extra set of clothing including shoes and socks. Be sure to update for seasons. Bring a sweatshirt. Sneakers are preferred! * Students can not play on equipment outside in dress shoes, flip flops, sandals and crocs.

  13. Birthdays You may choose to celebrate your child's birthday in the classroom. No edible treats due to allergies. Children may send pencils, bookmarks, stickers etc. instead. * No invitations can be given out at school.

  14. We love volunteers! Parent volunteer training is required 7 school days prior to the school event or field trip. Training from last year is good through September 30th of this year.

I am in Kindergarten I am a risk taker and mess maker.I am a confident doer of exciting things.I am not built for desk sitting.My busy brain craves action and novelty.I am not as grownup as some people think.I am an observant seeker of adventure.I need to play, move and explore.Please don’t rush my childhood.I am only 5.
