In this lesson, students will explore key facts and examples about the Progressive Era using their textbook. They will discuss segregation and discrimination during the post-Reconstruction era, focusing on Jim Crow laws, voting restrictions, and the vital contributions of leaders like Ida B. Wells, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. Du Bois. Students will work together to enhance their HW Organizer with insights from their readings and then analyze a poem about Washington and Du Bois. This activity will deepen understanding of the struggles and reforms during this pivotal time in American history.
