This summary outlines the key developments from the LAFS meeting held on March 14, 2007. It covers recent advancements in Role-Based Access (RBA) and Sequencer projects, emphasizing ongoing instrumentation efforts while slowing down on the SDA project due to unclear requirements. The successful vertical slice test and the acceptance of the proposed implementation by CERN are highlighted. Additionally, the document discusses future plans for core RBAC functionality, project requirements gathering, and the significance of continued exploratory work with data access at CERN.

LAFS – LHC@FNAL SoftwareStatus LARP Meeting Jean Slaughter March 14, 2007
Summary of the Last LAFS Talk • Jan 31, 2007 by Dave McGinnis • Document 470 • Highlights • 11/15/2006 visit by Pierre Charrue and Eugenia Hatziangeli • 12/12/2996 course on LSA ( LHC Software applications) by Greg Kruk • Status of RBA (Role Based Access), Sequencer, SDA projects
Recent Developments • Dave McGinnis met with Herman Schmickler and Mike Lamont to review LAFS projects • Conclusions • LAFS is on the right track • RBA and sequencer continue as they are. They will probably finish by the end of the year • For now, emphasize instrumentation projects – tune displays, (wire scanners, sync light,…) and slow down on SDA until the requirements for SDA are clearer.
Status - Role Based Access Control RBAC • Team: • S.Gysin, A.Petrov, C.Schumann (FNAL) • K.Kistro, W.Gajewski, G.Kruk, M.Peryt (CERN AB/CO) • Vertical slice test a success – January 19 • Review February 16 • Chair: H.Schmickler, • Reviewers: S.Deghaye (CERN), J.Gras (CERN), K. Hoeppner (GSI), M.Lamont (CERN), Derek Mathieson (CERN ), D.McGinnis (FNAL), J.Patrick (FNAL) • Very successful: CERN has accepted the proposed implementation, going forward with the implementation and deployment. Second release Feb. 23rd • RBAC NICE authentication is in demand, a production quality authentication server will be deployed this spring. • Core RBAC production functionality in June 2007 • Phased deployment depending on the Equipment Groups schedule and commissioning • All information is on:http://controls-wiki.web.cern.ch/controls-wiki/COGroup/RBA/RoleBasedAccess
Status - Sequencer • Jim Patrick, Jerry Annala, Dean Still, Brian Hendricks • LAFS role is help on establishing requirements and general advice – not code • Visit by Jim Patrick last month • Dean, Jerry and Brian Hendricks went to CERN yesterday • Reyes is coming here in April • CERN wants multiple visits over the next several months • http://cd-amr.fnal.gov/remop/Sequencer.htm
Status - Instrumentation • Tune displays for BBQs – Jim Patrick and Dennis Nicklaus with advice from Jerry and Dean • http://cd-amr.fnal.gov/remop/TuneFeedback.htm • Dennis and Elliott will gather requirements on trips to CERN in the next several weeks. Possible projects: • Wire scanners • Sync light
SDA - Sequenced Data Acquisition • Elliott, Tim, Jerry Cai, Dennis N. • SDA-II for Tevatron ready for testing • CERN isn’t ready to think enough about SDA for a requirements document. Vertical slice test seen as premature • Mutual decision with CERN to slow down on SDA requirements document and work on instrumentation projects • Great experience for SDA work • Continue with exploratory work to understand how to access data at CERN
Miscellaneous Stuff • Weekly meetings 9:00 Tuesdays in WH1East • Wiki http://www-bd.fnal.gov/issues/wiki/LAFS • Information about Eclipse and writing applications • Travel plans • Useful information about CERN • Web page • http://cd-amr.fnal.gov/remop/LAFS.htm
