  3. What is AED? • A National Honor Society meant to • Encourage and recognize excellence • Promote cooperation and contact between professionals and students • Bind together students with similar interests • Use our services to benefit health organizations, charities, and the community

  4. Who is AED for? • All students engaged in the pursuit of a professional healthcare career including: • Medicine • Dentistry • Veterinary • Nursing • Physician Assisting • Optometry • Pharmacy • And more!

  5. Requirements to be a National Member • Have at least 3 semesters of pre-health course work • Maintain at least a 3.2 GPA • Attend at least 3/4 of the meetings • Obtain 25 hours of service through out the semester

  6. Community Service Hours • Hours can be achieved when doing events with AED or they can be achieved on your own time • If you complete hours on your own time you must get credentials and hand them in at the end of the semester • You are responsible of keeping track of your hours!

  7. If you do not meet one of the requirements… • You may still be an affiliate member, come to the meetings, and benefit from presentations and volunteer opportunities until you do meet the requirements • Affiliate members may not vote, apply for scholarships, get honor cords, or become an officer

  8. Membership Record Form (MRF) • If you wish to apply to become a national member, pick up a MRF before you leave or find it on the national website - www.nationalaed.org • A fee of $75.00 is required by the AED National Office with each application • Due at the next meeting (Tues Sept. 21) if you would like to be initiated this semester

  9. Meetings • Meetings will be held the first and third Tuesday of every month, same time, same room • We will provide new and helpful information and volunteer opportunities at every meeting so be sure to make it out! • Next meeting: Tuesday Sept. 21 in Dobo 132 at 7pm (PLEASE BRING LOCAL DUES $10)
