  2. 1. North GA Walk to Emmaus has a Safeguarded Servant policy because: a. It is one of the Ten Commandments b. The safety of our servants and participants is of utmost importance c. We let people like Bobby become Lay Directors Safeguarded Servants

  3. 2. Our Safeguarded Servant policy covers (protects): a. Only men between the ages of 19-59 b. People who come to work on clogged toilets at King’s Retreat c. Servants and participants who are considered Youth, Elderly, or Vulnerable Safeguarded Servants

  4. 3. If you find yourself alone in one of the dorm rooms with a youth, elderly or vulnerable person, you should: a. Turn off the lights, hide in the corner and scare the crap out of them b. Walk out into the hall and prop the door open c. See “a” Safeguarded Servants

  5. 4. Let’s say you are serving in the kitchen with a young lady who is 15. She gets to know you and wants to talk to you about something that is bothering her. You should: a. Sneak to the prayer chapel and close the door so no one will know you aren’t working like Marv does b. Stop, look around and realize you are in deep doo doo because you are at a girl’s Chrysalis weekend! c. Get the heck out of there cause the police are on the way! Safeguarded Servants

  6. 5. During the time of intercessory prayer during the pilgrims’ Dying Moments, you become aware, from a fellow team member, that there is a situation of abuse. You should: a. Run to the chapel, come in and tell someone on the inside team what you have heard. b. Discuss the situation with the others in your area of service to see if everyone agrees that the situation should be reported to anyone c. Announce to the outside team to pray about the situation. d. None of the above. Safeguarded Servants

  7. 6. You are a dorm servant. You check on a pilgrim who is crying in his bed as everyone is starting to settle in for the night. He tells you of a situation of abuse. You listen and learn some, but not many details. You should: a. Turn on the lights in the room and make him tell everyone what he told you. b. Let him go to sleep, keep the information to yourself and arrange a time to pull him aside the next day so you can get more information c. Ask him if he’d like to speak with the Lay Director or Head Spiritual Director or Board Rep. If not, let him go to sleep. Then go to the Lay Director, the Head Spiritual or the Board Rep and tell them of your conversation. Safeguarded Servants

  8. 7. You are an assistant table leader and a pilgrim decides to confess to you that he is an abuser and that an incident of abuse happened very recently. You have reported this to either the Lay Director, Head Spiritual or the Board Rep. The board rep asks you to fill out a report with the details you know. In addition, you are asked to be present on a phone call with the Georgia hotline. You: a. Fully cooperate because you know from this training that adults in this state who know of abuse are mandated to report b. Refuse to talk to the hotline representative because you don’t want to get involved c. Refuse to talk to the hotline representative because you think you can talk the pilgrim into going to the authorities on Monday after the walk Safeguarded Servants
