  6. ENTREPRENEURSHIP STRATEGIC PLAN 1.Develop resources for students and entrepreneurs interested in potential aerospace/manufacturing businesses 2. Partner with local government and the Chamber of Commerce to identify real world student projects 3. Ensure students interact with local businesses including immigrant populations 4. Develop new methodologies to ensure entrepreneurship is inclusive/serves immigrant populations 5. Integrate entrepreneurship into grants *

PREPARE FOR AEROSPACE JOBS • Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center • Entry level Assembly, Tooling, QA, Composites • Unique teaching pedagogy: Animation Online, pass test, move to manufacturing lab for hands-on experience • Emphasis on quality, soft skills, confidence • Goal for many: Gain skills, start my own business • 1200 Hired *

Continued • MatEd National Center (http://www.materialseducation.org/) and • Materials Science changed image of their lab, once only used by registered students • Decided to open up their large fabrication to the public • Develop marketing plan; met with community hobby groups; reached out to small machining businesses • Developed schedule and fee structure, safety rules • Featured: Prototyping, building models, testing • Now we are a Certified FabLab and helping launch small businesses *

BAINBRIDGE GRADUATE INSTITUTE, INCLUSIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP • Focus on immigrant and international communities: • Business ESL curriculum developed in partnership with Edmonds CC teaches business vocabulary and concepts for those interested in starting a business • Ice House Entrepreneurship Mindset Series, Kauffman Foundation program that explores attitudes and beliefs of successful entrepreneurs Starting a Business Workshop • Drill Down Sessions take an in-depth look at business fundamentals in the areas of money, marketing and management • Consulting Services offer one-on-one time with a StartZone Business Specialist focused on starting and growing a business *

RESULTS • Marketing classes always contain “real world” projects and analysis with focus on local businesses/communities • Women’s Entrepreneurial Workshop now Annual Event • Core Entrepreneurial courses now being offered through Continuing Education • Using National Entrepreneurship Skills Standards embedded in many classes *
