  7. PLACEMENTS IN CORE CLASSES • Based upon the professional judgment of the Placement Committee • Data-based decision making • Explore scores + local percentiles • 8th grade teacher recommendations Careful consideration is given when making placements

  8. PLACEMENTS • English (Regular or Honors) • Math (Pre-Algebra, Extended Algebra, Algebra or Honors Algebra • Science (Biology or Honors Biology) • Western Civilization or Extended Reading • World Language (Spanish I or II/French I or II)

  9. NO TEST SCORES • Forward test scores from another testing location to RB • Or contact April Englehart in Student Services to schedule testing • No placements will be make without test scores

REQUESTING A PLACEMENT CHANGE • All placement change considerations must be submitted to the Placement Committee using the online Placement Change Request Form. • The deadline for all placement change considerations is January 22, 2014. • If you do not receive a call or e-mail, consider your request granted. • The online form is available at www.rbhs208.net

  19. ELECTIVEOPPORTUNITIES • Applied Arts • English • Fine Arts • World Languages • Students placed in Reading are not advised to take a World Language or Western Civilization Freshman year

STUDY HALL & ACADEMIC SUPPORT • Some students have been recommended for Academic Support • Help with organization and study skills • Homework support and help provided • Communication between school and home • Study Hall is offered every period of the day • Freshmen will take either 6 or 7 academic courses

READING & MATH INTERVENTIONS Depending on placement scores, students may have been recommended for Extended Reading and/or Extended Algebra • Extended Reading (1.5 periods) Takes the place of Western Civilization • Extended Algebra (1.5 periods) • Extended Reading AND Extended Algebra = Full period of Academic Support • Only Extended Reading OR only Extended Algebra = ½ period of Academic Support • Electives might be possible freshman year

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL CHECKLIST • Health Forms (State Mandated) • 9th grade physical (parent fills out the Health History portion) • Immunization record • Must be signed by your child’s doctor • Must be returned to RB before the first day of school • Students who do not have the above listed documents completed and on file in the Health office will be subject to the state mandated exclusion from school
