  3. STAFF AND STUDENT BELIEFS • Student behavior is the responsibility of everyone at Tioga. We will work as a team – staff, parents, students - to model, teach, and practice appropriate behavior to reach the goals of the Tioga Community. • We will teach students the expectations and skills necessary to be able to demonstrate responsible behavior in all school settings by collectively correcting, modifying, and practicing appropriate student actions. • Everyone contributes to providing a safe learning environment at Tioga. Staff and students set the tone through their daily actions and attitudes. We will demonstrate our continuous support and encouragement of all students through our proactive interactions with them. • Tioga’s staff is unified in supporting and implementing school-wide expectations to help our students reach academic and social goals. • We will monitor our progress toward our academic and social goals, celebrate our successes, and revise our goals as we move our students toward being College and Career ready responsible citizens.

Reviewing your Classes • Every class you are registered for will prepare you for high school • Course preparation for High school graduation College entrance requirements: A- G classes • College Preparatory and A-G classes in middle school • Algebra I and Spanish courses count for high school credit and college requirements Career objective: • College prep classes and electives

High School Graduation Fresno Unified School District requires 230 credits to graduate Most courses are worth 5 credits a semester A grade “C” or better is needed to receive credit for an A-G course Complete all homework Ask for help when you need it In High School passing grades equal credits

Tioga Fast Pass What is it? • Pass that allows you outside the cafeteria during morning and lunch break • Allows you opportunities for free snacks, soda and music during lunch • Front of the line passes for events • Field trip opportunities • Extra time during lunch on certain days • Preferred choice when choosing clubs • Pizza parties

  35. Work Hard, Get Smart, Be Kind! Dress Code Policy Being in dress code is your responsibility. It prepares you for the workplace. Look good, feel good! We all must follow the Tioga and FUSD dress code policy.

  37. Work Hard, Get Smart, Be Kind! Dress Code Most Frequent Violations • No PIERCINGS. Only ears can be pierced. • Hairstyles that attract attention like MOHAWKS, hair cuts with symbols, writing, or unnatural colors (ex. purple braids), etc. are not allowed. • Nothing that is 50% or more red - this includes anything: Undergarments, undershirts, shirts, shorts, pants, folders, backpacks, belts, socks, ANYTHING!!!! • Flip-flop style shoes are prohibited. All shoes must have a strap on the back.

Dress Code Cont. • No professional team logos on ANYTHING (college attire is okay) • Ripped jeans must have leggings underneath (leggings cannot be worn without jeans) • No Hats and beanies • No sagging • Shorts and skirts must be no more than 4 inches above the knee • All tops must cover undergarments completely. Straps must be 2 inches or more. • PE clothes cannot be worn in any other class other than PE. This includes light gray sweat shirts and sweat pants.

  39. DRESS CODE – GANG APPAREL • ABSOLUTELY NO GANG RELATED APPAREL ON ANYTHING! • No Paisley bandanas (rags) of any color.

Common Areas/Fields at Lunch Stay on the “West Side” of campus Don’t run Keep your hands to yourself Use sports equipment properly Enter class and buildings quietly Don’t wait until the tardy bell to use the restroom or get water You must have a fast pass to participate during lunch

Morning Arrival and Dismissal All student report to the cafeteria Be on campus before the first bell Be in class before the tardy bell Be prepared for class with all of your materials Be in dress code Leave campus immediately after school Take everything home that needs to go home Bus riders board busses behind the gym

Tioga fast pass • GPA of 2.0 or higher during the previous two-week period. • Attendance of 95% or more. • No on or off campus suspensions during the current or previous two weeks. • No more than one mediation during the current or previous two weeks. • No more than one discipline entry in ATLAS, our student management system, during the previous two weeks. • All 3’s and 4’s on our Tioga Habits of Mind Report Card during the previous two weeks. How do I get one?

  49. Just say no to fighting If you start a fight or willingly participate, you will be arrested. Fighting is against the law. If you have conflict with another person, see an adult on campus. We have counselors to help you mediate. #Drama Free Campus Tioga has our very own full-time police officer. He’s here to help you succeed by following the rules and the law.
