  4. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 3. Position Descriptions . Right now we still need some help. ICE/WATER JUGS We need someone with a pickup truck to fill the jugs with ice each day. It should take about an hour to do. We have a supplier of ice at the bottom of the hill. Do I have any volunteers?

Den Leaders Will carry a binder/clipboard with a daily schedule, roster with allergy information, pick-up authorization forms, accomplishment information for kids, and emergency phone numbers & procedures. They will be the communicators if an emergency occurs. If an injury occurs, one of the Directors will call.

  7. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 6. SAFETY FIRST - SAFETY FIRST Keeping a close eye on the health of our campers and other volunteers in your area. If you notice someone looking ill or suffering from heat exposure, please send them directly to the First Aid tent to get helped immediately. Each Den Leader will be provided with a squirt bottle labeled WATER to be used to mist the boys and keep them cool.

SAFETY FIRST (con’t) It is our policy that the campers are to keep hands off of each other, unless directed by the Den Leaders or Station Leaders for a specific activity. If we having discipline concerns with one of the campers or youth volunteers that interferes with operations of camp, they will quietly be sent to see the Camp Director Leaders will NOT discipline in front of the other campers or volunteers!*

  9. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 7. Keep Hydrated - WATER Each camper will be given a water bottle the very first day of camp. There will be water jugs in front of every den/station. Remind the campers and each other to DRINK WATER! Den Chiefs and youth volunteers will be responsible for keeping the water jugs clean and filled

  10. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 8. Mealtime Volunteers & Campers need to bring their own lunches. Please put lunch in a gallon zip lock baggie labeled with your son’s name & Den. Do not pack anything that will spoil easily , such as certain lunch meats & mayo. Avoid sweets like sodas & candy…NO CAFFEINE. Caffeine is a diuretic and will do more harm than good.*

  11. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 9. Items to bring to Camp Sunblock. Lots of sunblock. NOred lobsters. It gets really hot in July. WATER HATS Make sure any item you bring for the camp to borrow has your name & number labeled on it so it gets back to you at end of camp.

  12. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 10. Camp Uniform For Campers: blue camp t-shirt, colored den bandana, shorts or pants, closed toe shoes, and a hat (no logos). For Adult Volunteers: in order to get the awesome camp t-shirt, you must volunteer at least 3 days. Dress code is the camp t-shirt, den bandana, shorts or pants, closed toe shoes, and a hat (no logos). For Youth Volunteers & Den Chiefs: red camp t-shirt, shorts or pants, closed toe shoes, and a hat (no logos). Attention Ladies: by shorts, we do not mean ultra mini shorts. Please remember we are serving a camp full of young and impressionable boys. If you come to camp dressed inappropriately, you will be asked to change. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation

  13. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 11. Assembly All assemblies will be full camp and we will gather at the flag pole on the north side of the site, next to the First Aid tent. This will be one of the areas you will need a chair or blanket for sitting on as the area is all dirt.

  14. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 12. Wildlife It DOES exist!Please be aware of your surroundings. Our camp is near hills, bushes, and grassy areas that may contain wildlife. If you encounter wildlife such as rattlesnakes, coyotes, tarantulas, black widows, move the boys away from the danger calmly. Then inform the Directors or D.E. immediately! Steer clear of any poison oak. If you do come across some, use it as an opportunity to show the boys – teach them! Observe & respect the local wildlife and it’s habitat.

  15. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 13. Family BBQ & Potluck Cost is $5/family up to 5. Additional family is welcome for $3/person. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks are provided. Please bring one side dish to share. Make sure it’s enough to feed hungry mouths! Dessert will be provided by the campers via Cub Grub Station. Yum! They will be making Dutch Oven desserts! Be prepared to have an awesome time at the campfire hearing songs and watching fun skits around a warm summertime campfire. Bring chairs or blankets to sit on.

  16. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 14. To the Campers Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best Good Sportsmanship, Respect for fellow scouts and leaders. Rocks & Sticks belong on the ground, not in the air. NO THROWING. Always use the Buddy System, even just to the restroom. Do not wonder beyond the camp boundaries. Drink lots of WATER! And most importantly….HAVE TONS OF FUN!!!!

  17. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek 15. Mandatory training for ALL Volunteers Saturday July 6th. This church building at 10am. Make-up training will be done at 12pm on first day of camp. You can NOT volunteer if you miss this mandatory training

  18. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek BATHROOMS There is a boys bathroom in the cinder block building. There is a female bathroom. There will be porta-potties….for the men….sorry guys. The BSA takes this very seriously. Even for the females, the adult females will make sure there are no youth in the bathrooms they enter.

  19. BH twilight camp 2013 Galactic trek EVACUATION In the case of fire, swarm, tornado, zombie attack, or nuclear explosion….. We will evacuate. *A CAMP WIDE ANNOUNCEMENT/ALARM *Adult/Youth Volunteers WILL remain calm. *Den Leaders will take roll. *Then we load them into the cars *Drive them down the hill to the main parking lot *Campers UNACCOUNTED FOR will require a search party. INFORM THE DIRECTORS OF LOST BOYS! * We will call parents as necessary – parents will pick up scouts/youth at the Castaic Headquarters.

First day, check the poster to see if all of your paperwork is turned in. Walk your scout to his den table to the right. Other days you can sign him in at the den table and go. Your scout will need to be signed out at his den table.*
