The Measurements Of The Milky Way *Our galaxy is one of the HUGEST galaxies! *The galaxies name is The Milky Way. Earth=halfway between the edge *The heart of the Milky Way is 27.000 light years from Earth!
Colors Of The Stars And Their Tempurature *Unlike our star, the sun, these stars in The Milky Way don’t glow yellow. Many shine blue. *Red stars are not as hot as the sun, The red stars are cooler. The blue stars are the hottest usually people think they are the coolest. Blue stars are much hotter than the sun.
Life And Death Of A Star “Gravtiy pulls in more and more dust and gases. It squeezes them tighter and tighter into a big blob. The blob of dust and gases. The blob heats up and begins to glow, a star is being born!” “A supernova or a the explosion of a star created all this debri. A supernova usually occurs when a large star runs out of fuel and collapses.” * When new stars’ cores reach millions of degrees, the heat will spark a nuclear reaction. Hydrogen will turn into helium. The reaction will power the star for millions or even billions of years!”
Black Holes • “A black hole has super duper strong gravity. It pulls • so strong that nothing can escape its gripping force. • Even light can’t escape.” • Stars in the galaxy orbit around the black hole, • 10,000 or 100,000 years a star gets too close, the black • hole splits open, swallows it, and grows.
What I learned from this project was… I didn’t know that the Milky Way was one of the BIGGEST galaxies! I also didn’t know that the Earth was in the center of the Milky Way.
