Selection criteria Academic: Check requirements for individual medical schools GCSEs: Predictors of academic ability & breadth of knowledge Ability to organise and be successful at many things at once Replacing academic GCSEs with popular GCSE equivalents ?! A LEVELS: AAA(b) AAB(b) Chemistry nearly always a subject requirement, Biology often Third A level? Do not take additional A levels unless good reason identified ! Other TESTs: UKCAT,BMAT

  12. COMPLETING THE UCAS FORM • You can only makefourchoices for medical courses • The closing date for applications is 15th October for Medicine

  13. Fill in all the boxes on form: • Both pending and previously certified results • Declare all qualifications: Do not leave gaps • Declare courses accurately and with level if appropriate

  14. Personal statement: structure check wih medical school spelling & confidentiality! Prepare early: most medical schools do not accept late applications Advice from admissions’ offices: ( before middle July!) Do not Plaigarise Resit Applicant ? BE HONEST
