  3. Mission Statement Our mission is to raise the quality of life for pets and people who love and need them.

  4. We accomplish this by: • Creating responsible pet owners • Reducing the number of animals euthanized • Rescuing animals in crisis • Rehabilitating behavioral issues in pets

  7. On Line Process • www.petcofoundation.org • Click on “Applications for Support” • Follow the instructions that take you to the proper link • Create a New Account or enter in your previously acquired Account information and password

  8. Password • You will be asked to select a password • This password will be tied to your email address. • Don’t forget it as this is how you will access your account for the future.

  9. Types of Grants Available • 4 “R” s Project Support • Adoption • Spay/Neuter-TNR • Event Sponsorships • Product Donations • Disaster • Stationary Adoptions • General Support • We Are Family Too • Food Banks • Foster Programs • Vet Assistance • Capital Campaigns

  10. Letter of Inquiry • Project Name • Amount Requested • Geographic Area Served • Type of Project • Mission Statement • Charitable Partner Status • Receive email with decision to move forward or not

  11. Basic Information Required • W-9 • 501(c)(3) tax determination letter • Organizations Not Currently Exempt but have filed Form 1023 • Government/Municipal Agencies

  12. Successful Applications • Readable • Complete-answer all pertinent questions • Explain completely about what you are asking • Justify what you are asking • Recommendations from others, especially PETCO store people • Help lots of animals • Project oriented • Be prepared to report progress

After You Apply for Support • Be patient • You can check progress with password • Letter of Inquiry decided within a week • 8-12 weeks for us to review and consider applications once submitted • All Applications for Support are decided upon and notified • It does not hurry us up to call all the time • Remember, you can check progress yourself

Application for Support General Information • There are no deadlines • You may apply as often as you wish • Ask for what you need, justify for what you ask, and realize that larger grants are the result of funds being available and a mutual relationship being built over time. • We cannot fund salaries • We no longer fund horse rescues or wildlife organizations

  15. General Information (cont.) • First you submit a Letter of Inquiry that just gives basic information about your request. • You must be a Charitable Partner or submit the correct paperwork to proceed. • Only after LOI is approved may you submit an Application.

  18. Event Sponsorships • Allow at least 8 weeks • Be specific about what you are asking • Provide several opportunities to choose from • Offer exposure expectations • Apply for sponsorship on-line (4Rs Project Support)

  19. Product Donations • Be specific, provide sku, quantity and PETCO store • Be prepared to pick it up all at once • Only products sold in PETCO stores may be donated • No collars and leads • Apply on-line only

  20. Adoptions • Must already be a Charitable Partner • Complete an Adoption Partner Application/Agreement with the PETCO store manager • Encourage store staff to promote adoption events • Report all completed adoptions to store staff. • Mobile or Stationary • Think Adoption First Gift
