1. Higher Ground Words by Johnson Oatman, Jr. Music by Charles H. Gabriel Words and Music public domain 532

2. I’m pressing on the upward wayNew heights I’m gaining ev’ry day

3. Still praying as I onward boundLord, plant my feet on higher ground

4. Lord, lift me up and let me standBy faith, on heaven’s tablelandA higher plane than I have foundLord, plant my feet on higher ground

5. My heart has no desire to stayWhere doubts arise and fears dismay

6. Though some may dwellwhere these aboundMy prayer, my aim is higher ground

7. Lord, lift me up and let me standBy faith, on heaven’s tablelandA higher plane than I have foundLord, plant my feet on higher ground

8. I want to live above the worldThough Satan’s dartsat me are hurled

9. For faith has caught the joyful soundThe song of saints on higher ground

10. Lord, lift me up and let me standBy faith, on heaven’s tablelandA higher plane than I have foundLord, plant my feet on higher ground

11. I want to scale the utmost heightAnd catch a gleam of glory bright

12. But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve foundLord, lead me on to higher ground

13. Lord, lift me up and let me standBy faith, on heaven’s tablelandA higher plane than I have foundLord, plant my feet on higher ground
